As a Home Business Entrepreneur I can and will put in here, many of the things one can find in many books and an Internet search, BUT in my last paragraph I will bring up that statement I started with at the beginning of the Introduction!
A typical entrepreneur can have the following qualities:
One of the defining traits of good entrepreneurs is the ability to spot an opportunity and imagine something where others haven't.
Self-confidence is a key entrepreneurial trait. A self-belief and passion about your product or service - your enthusiasm should win people over to your ideas.
A belief, that the outcome of events is down to your own actions, rather than based on external factors or other people's actions.
The ability to take the initiative, work independently and to develop your ideas.
The willingness to make personal sacrifices through long hours and loss of leisure time can be the making of a home business entrepreneur.
The ability to be resourceful and proactive, rather than adopting a passive 'wait and see' approach.
Is the ability to be open-minded when listening to other people's advice, whilst bearing in mind your objectives for the business.
This classic trait is the definition of risk-taking--the ability to withstand the fear of uncertainty and potential failure.
Business survival, like that of the species, depends on adaptation.
The Home Business Entrepreneur exists to defy conventional wisdom.
The ability to continue despite setbacks, financial insecurity and exposure to risk.
And there are many more to being a home business entrepreneur…
Remember this statement in the Introduction…
"People, who know how, will always work for people who know why! People who know why will always have, people who know how, working for them. "
Let’s analyse it a little because if you think it’s a little demeaning to people who work at a job for life, then it is not!
An entrepreneur in his own way has their skill sets, but does not need to know everything or how something works. Entrepreneurs can be a jack of all trades and master of none except the complete business or company.
A skilled worker, say a toolmaker sets out to specialise in something they like or love to do. They can become successful high earners but do not want to step out of the box and become a Boss or Business owner because they like or would rather have the security of being a specialist in their trade.
There are certain things that I do not want to do, do not know how to do or spend valuable time on in my business when I know someone else who knows how and is willing to do it. This is where I go and look for a specialist to do what I need to get done whilst I focus on the rest of my business. This is just one way of explaining How and Why.
At the end of the day, it is only you who will know whether or not you have what it takes to become a home business entrepreneur and make that leap of fearless faith! “Think it into existence”
One of the many Entrepreneurs I follow because he has a great enthusiasm for life and evrything he does and an interest in all of his people is Richard Branson the Founder of Virgin and all of its companies. His mind must never stop, however note that he does take time out to enjoy life after the hard work is done which reminds us not to burn ourselves out. No good getting there and then not being able to enjoy the fruits of our labours. Follow Richard Branson on his Virgin Blog here
